CBD Oil in Pregnancy - beneficial or risky?

Many women already routinely use CBD oil. Pregnancy then makes many of them think. The question suddenly arises: Is CBD harmful during pregnancy?

Until now, their own bodies have clearly benefited from CBD and it was never questioned, but now they are literally "in other circumstances" and new rules apply. It is now no longer just a matter of considering one's own health and well-being, but of questioning every behavior with regard to the unborn life.

Hormonal changes also put CBD oil during pregnancy in a different light, and even if you want to continue consuming it, you should thoroughly feel into whether and to what extent it is individually beneficial.

As a general rule of thumb, every medication, dietary supplement, and active ingredient-rich cosmetic product should be discussed with a doctor during pregnancy. If you trust your medical care, you can then feel safe with this advice.

But of course, it also doesn't hurt to do your own research, because ultimately, you always make the decision yourself.
The relaxing and pain-relieving effects of CBD are proven, so it's natural to want to use these effects, especially during difficult and strenuous pregnancies.

If you experience unpleasant side effects, you will certainly quickly think about treating yourself to CBD oil during pregnancy. But even if it is a purely natural product, you should not rush into it, but first educate yourself sufficiently and seek advice.

We have summarized some facts and study results for you so that you can make an informed decision.

Is CBD harmful during pregnancy?

The bad news right at the beginning: unfortunately, there are no representative studies on CBD and pregnancy - neither positive nor negative. Although CBD is placental, it has not been investigated whether and how it affects the embryo or baby.

Many anecdotal reports on the internet confirm that taking CBD drops during pregnancy alleviates accompanying symptoms. These accompanying symptoms during pregnancy include:

  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Headaches and muscle pain
  • Cravings and binge eating
  • Mood swings
  • Sleep problems

Many women also report easier births. Nevertheless, anecdotal reports are always individual statements and there is no comparable value (one does not know how the pregnancy and birth would have progressed without CBD).

What you should also consider is the natural origin of CBD oil. Pregnancy and the associated symptoms and complications are often treated with far less natural medications by doctors.

CBD Oil during Pregnancy: Studies and Recommendations

Even if all of this initially speaks in favor of taking CBD oil during pregnancy, there is a lack of any studies that would give you, as a responsible mother, the necessary certainty (and us, to be able to advise you without hesitation). Although CBD is legal, it is not 100% possible to avoid minimal traces of THC, which is why studies on it are rarely approved.

Furthermore, only a few pregnant women want to take the risk for their unborn child to participate in a study with an as yet unknown outcome - this is probably the reason why study results on pregnancy and breastfeeding are missing for many medications and dietary supplements.

CBD for Pregnant Women: Safe Products

Based on these results and information, we generally advise against taking CBD during pregnancy. This may not be good news for you if you have discovered and appreciate its effects.

Less risky is our CBD cosmetics for external use, as only a small amount of CBD enters your organism. With the CBD mask, you can create a small relaxation ritual and take time just for yourself.

During pregnancy, it's especially good to tune into your body and its needs and rest and pamper yourself as often as possible! The detox mask cleanses the skin and frees it from toxins and impurities that bloom during pregnancy due to hormones.

The CBD bath bomb lavender also fits into your small care ritual, allowing you to immerse yourself in a relaxing bath and enjoy the weightlessness in the water. The bath strengthens your nerves and cares for dry skin, which often occurs during pregnancy.

In everyday life, when you have less time for skincare and need something quick, you still don't have to forgo the effects of CBD, because you can simply apply the CBD face cream and thus ensure a better start to the day.

Since your skin is an organ through which substances are absorbed even when applied externally, a small amount of CBD can also enter your organism in this way. Unfortunately, it is also not sufficiently researched how this then affects your pregnancy and your unborn baby. Therefore, we cannot give you a recommendation at this point either.

Perhaps you are not yet pregnant, but want to prepare your body to carry new life? Then CBD oil can help you achieve a strong, healthy and balanced organism and inner peace. A healthy, relaxed body is not only more fertile, but also stronger and more resistant during pregnancy and birth.

With the low-dose CBD oil 5% you can't go wrong and can try out how it affects you and whether you benefit from it. However, you should stop taking it as soon as you become pregnant, as we do not recommend taking CBD drops during pregnancy.

Conclusion: CBD Oil during Pregnancy

Has CBD oil always been your faithful companion? Pregnancy is a very special life circumstance and many routines therefore need to be rethought. Regarding the use of CBD products, it is best to speak with your trusted doctor and midwife.

We cannot give you clear advice at this point. Keep in mind that you are in relatively uncharted territory and can only rely on anecdotal reports and your gut feeling - with responsibility for your unborn child!

If you suffer from severe pregnancy discomfort and your doctor is prescribing medication for it anyway, you can discuss CBD as a more natural alternative. However, be sure to also get advice on how to approach the dosage of CBD oil during pregnancy.

However, if CBD is generally too unsafe for you, you can simply stop taking it during pregnancy and breastfeeding and then start again slowly and with a low dosage to optimally support your body in processing its masterpiece.
