Acne is a problem that many people suffer from. The skin condition is more common during puberty but can continue into adulthood. In recent years, scientists have recognized that cannabidiol is a natural active ingredient that can relieve acne symptoms.
Fundamentally, acne is not a dangerous condition, although it is often accompanied by psychological distress for those affected. People often suffer not only from poor skin, but also from low self-esteem. They are ashamed and literally do not feel comfortable in their own skin. Unfortunately, acne cannot be completely hidden even with good makeup, so the unevenness on the skin is always somehow visible.
Acne results from hormonal irregularities, which explains why the problem primarily occurs during puberty. Acne also arises from an overproduction of the sebaceous glands, which are also hormonally controlled. Our hormones regulate sebum production and can therefore certainly lead to oily skin if too much is produced.
If a hormonal imbalance occurs, it can already be clearly seen on the skin's surface, which appears impure, greasy, or even oily. Individual pimples are rather the exception with acne - instead, clogged sebaceous glands become inflamed, ultimately even leading to scar formation. The entire complexion suffers as a result.
Dermatologists are the most important point of contact when acne occurs, as they can perform an individual skin analysis and then prescribe appropriate medications. However, these usually only help to a certain extent and cannot completely eliminate acne.
In various studies, scientists have found that endocannabinoid receptors are already present in hair follicles and sebaceous glands. These respond to the active ingredient cannabinoid. Because the sebaceous glands also interact with the cannabinoids that our body produces itself, it explains why externally supplied cannabinoids can also have an effect on the skin. Indeed, studies show that cannabinoids can influence the activity of the sebaceous glands.
Hungarian researchers have investigated the exact effect of CBD in connection with the skin's sebaceous glands even more thoroughly. It was shown that anandamides - which are endocannabinoids that our body produces itself - can influence the production of sebum in the glands by activating CB2 receptors. This means that CBD has no direct effect on the CB1 and CB2 receptors, but instead slows down excessive sebum production via anandamides.
In addition, CBD's anti-inflammatory effect also plays a role for acne patients. A pimple is nothing more than an inflamed sebaceous gland in the skin. If CBD with its anti-inflammatory ingredients is used, the risk of inflammation can be significantly reduced. Nevertheless, acne is still primarily a hormonal problem. CBD is also able to influence our body's hormonal system. This means that CBD can improve acne both internally and externally.
Many products, such as creams or lotions, are suitable for acne skin care. These contain additional nourishing active ingredients that can further support skin regeneration. These include bisabolol - which consists of natural chamomile oil - hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, dexpanthenol, and other valuable plant extracts. These ensure that the pores in the facial skin do not clog and stop excessive sebum production. In addition, the skin is comprehensively moisturized.
There are now numerous CBD products on the market that can be used or applied in different ways. For example, CBD oil, which is made from hemp oil, is very popular. It is simply dropped under the tongue and can thus unfold its anti-inflammatory effect in different parts of the body and counteract hormonal imbalance. It is not without reason that many women also use CBD oil during their menopause. Because here, too, there are hormonal fluctuations that bring with them different symptoms.
The overproduction of sebum in the skin glands leads to particularly oily skin and also clogs the pores. The skin appears shiny and oily, so acne becomes even more prominent. Blackheads and blockages in the pores are also a side effect that impairs the skin's appearance. The worst thing you can do in this case is to squeeze the pimples - this will sooner or later lead to unsightly scar formation. Acne patients thus experience a cycle that is difficult to break.
However, there are now also special products with CBD on the market, such as CBD masks, which can be applied topically to the skin. Light CBD facial creams with a gel consistency do not clog the pores, provide the skin with effective CBD and can thus prevent inflammation from spreading further. As a result, the skin no longer appears oily, but more balanced, mattified and calmed.
For direct application to irritated skin, it is advisable to apply light creams or serums to cleansed skin. This can be done two to three times a day. It is important to massage the cream well into the skin and to moisturize it sufficiently.
Not only does CBD slow down sebum production in the glands and have an anti-inflammatory effect - there are many other positive effects on the skin. Red and stressed skin can be soothed and mattified by creams with CBD. Especially oily skin appears clearer and more balanced after intensive cleansing and applying a light cream. In addition, CBD products provide long-term stabilization of the skin's pH value. As a result, fewer pimples, blackheads, and other irregularities that impair the skin's appearance occur.
Of course, CBD products for skin care can also be used by people who do not have acne. Because CBD is a natural active ingredient with no significant side effects, it contributes to an overall improvement in skin appearance. High-quality products nourish and soothe the facial skin, provide comprehensive moisture and prevent premature skin aging. Our CBD Clear Skin Set includes various products that support you in your skin care.
In addition to topical skin care, CBD can also be taken internally. For this purpose, for example, the use of CBD oil, which is dripped under the tongue, is recommended. Products with pantothenic acid and zinc, which in combination with an acne serum containing CBD can effectively eliminate skin impurities, are also supportive.
Many studies show how effective CBD can be for acne patients. CBD curbs the overproduction of sebum in the glands and can support the skin, especially with acne, from within - without drying it out. Sebum production is regulated, so that impurities such as pimples or blackheads occur less frequently.
However, it remains to be seen whether the natural active ingredient CBD will establish itself as an effective remedy for acne on the market in the future. Already now, however, there are many products that can be purchased completely legally - even in pharmacies. It is best to consult your family doctor, who can examine the skin and on this basis recommend suitable products and prescribe an adapted dosage. In any case, it is also important to thoroughly cleanse the skin morning and evening to free clogged pores and ensure a clearer complexion.
